The UK’s Legal Aid Agency has suffered a major cyberattack, compromising over 2.1 million records dating back to 2010.
Hackers claim they accessed sensitive data including criminal histories, national insurance numbers, and financial details.
The Ministry of Justice has confirmed the breach but says it is still “verifying” the full extent. Legal Aid Agency chief Jane Harbottle called the attack “shocking.”
The system remains offline, sparking concerns among past applicants.
Officials urge anyone who has ever applied for legal aid to change their passwords immediately and monitor for suspicious activity.
