German prosecutors have confirmed that a Ukrainian national has been arrested in Italy in connection with the 2022 Nord Stream pipeline explosions.
The suspect is alleged to have played a role in organising or carrying out the attack that damaged the key gas link between Russia and Europe.
The arrest was made following a European warrant, and extradition proceedings to Germany are now underway.
Investigators across several countries have been examining evidence surrounding the sabotage, which has been one of the most politically sensitive incidents of the war.
Further details on the suspect’s role have not yet been released.
