US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has confirmed that Washington is actively reviewing the process to classify the Muslim Brotherhood as a terrorist organisation.
He told radio host Sid Rosenberg that “all of that is in the works” and noted that each branch of the group would need to be designated individually.
Rubio acknowledged that legal challenges are expected and stressed the importance of building a strong evidentiary record that can withstand court scrutiny.
The announcement comes as Congress considers the Muslim Brotherhood Terrorist Designation Act of 2025, introduced in June, which directs the Secretary of State to make the designation.
