Weapons Cache Linked to Hamas Seized in Vienna

A weapons cache linked to Hamas was uncovered in Vienna, Austria by the country’s domestic intelligence service, according to an official announcement.

The cache was found in a suitcase stored in a rented room and contained five handguns and ten magazines.

Investigators believe the weapons were intended for attacks on Israeli or Jewish institutions in Europe.

A 39-year-old British citizen was arrested in London as part of an international operation and is expected to be extradited to Germany.

Though Hamas has denied a direct link to this operation, the case highlights Europe’s growing concern about the militant group’s potential external reach and the threat posed by transnational plots.
