Greta Thunberg Released from Ktzi’ot Prison, Deported to Athens

Israeli authorities have released activist Greta Thunberg from Ktzi’ot Prison and are transporting her by bus to Eilat, where she will be placed on a deportation flight to Athens.

Thunberg was detained along with other participants of the Global Sumud flotilla that attempted to breach Gaza’s naval blockade.

Fellow activists have alleged poor treatment in custody, including lack of water and harsh conditions, while Israel maintains that all detainees were treated in accordance with the law.

Swedish officials have not yet commented on her release or the circumstances of her deportation.
