Israel killed the head of intelligence for Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, Major General Majid Khademi, in an airstrike on Tehran this morning.
Israel’s defence minister confirmed the killing, which was also reported by Iranian state media.
It is the latest in a long series of targeted assassinations of senior IRGC and Iranian military figures since the war began on 28 February.
Monday’s wave of US-Israeli strikes killed more than 25 people across Iranian cities, including at least six children according to state media.
A separate strike hit the grounds of Sharif University of Technology near Tehran’s Azadi Square, with thick black smoke visible across the capital.
Iranian South Pars gas facilities in Bushehr province were also targeted.
