With Trump’s April 6 deadline expiring tonight at 8pm ET, the US president escalated his threats to a new level on Sunday, posting to Truth Social:
“Tuesday will be Power Plant Day, and Bridge Day, all wrapped up in one, in Iran. Open the Fuckin’ Strait, you crazy bastards, or you’ll be living in Hell.”
Iran’s foreign ministry said any infrastructure strikes would trigger a “more severe and expansive” retaliation, while Iranian embassies worldwide mocked the post, with one suggesting Trump’s cabinet invoke the 25th Amendment.
Iran has formulated a response to the latest ceasefire proposals conveyed through intermediaries but says direct talks are “absolutely incompatible with ultimatums.”
Brent crude rose to $109 a barrel this morning.
