In response to the IAEA’s resolution declaring it in non‑compliance with nuclear safeguards, Iran has announced two major steps that signal further defiance.
First, it will open a new uranium enrichment facility at an undisclosed location, raising concerns over international monitoring.
Second, Iran will upgrade the Fordow site by replacing its older IR-1 centrifuges with advanced IR-6 machines, capable of enriching uranium much faster and more efficiently.
These moves mark a significant escalation and are likely to heighten tensions with Western powers amid already stalled nuclear negotiations.
