Mike Huckabee has urged US embassy personnel in Israel to leave the country “today” if authorised to do so.
The U.S. Department of State said support staff and family members of diplomats may depart due to safety risks while commercial flights remain available.
According to The New York Times, Huckabee told staff there is “no need to panic” but advised that flight bookings should be made as soon as possible.
The guidance comes amid growing security concerns in the region.
