Zia Yusuf has resigned as Chairman of Reform UK following internal controversy over remarks made by fellow party member Sarah Pochin.
Pochin had called for a ban on the burka, prompting backlash and a public response from Yusuf, who branded the proposal “dumb”.
In a statement, Yusuf said: “I no longer believe working to get a Reform government elected is a good use of my time, and hereby resign the office.”
The resignation highlights ongoing tensions within the party over cultural policy and messaging ahead of the next general election campaign.
