China expands eastern military infrastructure amid Taiwan invasion concerns

China is significantly expanding its air and naval capacities along the eastern coast in a build-up that analysts link to potential plans for an invasion of Taiwan.

Satellite analysis shows new berths for amphibious warships, large naval piers capable of hosting tank transports and landing craft, and a heliport in Fujian province positioned to launch rapid troop landings across the Taiwan Strait.

Some civilian airports, like the newly completed Xiamen Xiang’an International Airport, are being developed in strategic locations close to Taiwan and are expected to be convertible to military use when needed.

These developments are part of a broader modernization campaign under President Xi Jinping aimed at enhancing operational readiness in a potential Taiwan scenario.

Military experts warn these dispersed and dual-use facilities complicate defense planning for any adversary.
