A message circulating widely on Iranian social media is shaking the regime’s narrative as protests continue across the country.
In the statement, a man identifying himself as a member of the Basij militia claims commanders issued orders to fire freely on demonstrators. He says he and many others refused to carry out the orders.
The message has spread rapidly, with activists calling it evidence of growing fractures inside Iran’s security forces.
Analysts say such open defiance, if genuine, signals eroding loyalty among rank and file forces tasked with suppressing unrest.
Authorities have not commented on the message, but its impact is fuelling further anger and emboldening protesters nationwide.
