Migrant Deported to France Returns to UK via Small Boat

A second migrant deported from the UK to France under the “one in, one out” return scheme has arrived back in Britain, landing via a small boat after his removal.

The man had been sent to France in September and re-crossed the English Channel shortly after.

The return raises fresh doubts about the effectiveness of the bilateral deal, which intends to deter arrivals by small boats by swapping migrants between the UK and France on a one-for-one basis.

UK officials said they will remove him again, but communications suggest systems to prevent repeat crossings remain limited.
