Nepal Parliament set ablaze as Prime Minister resigns and flees

Protests in Nepal have escalated dramatically with demonstrators storming the government zone and setting Parliament on fire.

Videos circulating online show the Finance Minister being beaten by crowds as security forces struggled to regain control.

The violence follows days of unrest led largely by young Nepalis angered by the government’s ban on social media platforms.

Reports from citizens on the ground say Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal has resigned and fled the capital amid the chaos.

The unrest has already left multiple people dead and hundreds injured, marking one of Nepal’s most severe political crises in years.
