Denmark Bans Civilian Drones Ahead of EU Summit After Multiple Intrusions

Denmark has imposed a temporary ban on all civilian drone flights from Monday through Friday amid escalating security concerns ahead of an EU summit in Copenhagen.

The decision follows repeated sightings of drones over military installations and disruptions at several Danish airports.

Transport Minister Thomas Danielsen said the ban is necessary so foreign drones can’t “create uncertainty and destabilise society,” and violations could lead to fines or up to two years in prison.

Military, police, and emergency flights remain exempt.

NATO and EU partners are reinforcing security: Germany, Sweden, and France are sending anti-drone systems and personnel to support Denmark’s defences during the summit.
