Chinese President Xi Jinping has put forward a four-point peace proposal for the Middle East, unveiled today during a meeting in Beijing with UAE Crown Prince Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed.
The plan calls for peaceful coexistence, respect for national sovereignty, adherence to international law, and a new “sustainable security architecture” for the Gulf region.
Xi warned the world must not be allowed to revert to the “law of the jungle.”
The UAE Crown Prince said Beijing plays a “responsible and constructive role” and pledged to work with China to restore regional stability and safeguard shipping security.
China is positioning itself as an alternative diplomatic force as US-Iran talks remain deadlocked.
