Dick Cheney, the former US Vice President who served under George W. Bush from 2001 to 2009, has died at the age of 84.
His family said he passed away from complications related to pneumonia and long-term heart disease.
Cheney was one of the most influential and controversial figures in modern American politics, known for shaping US foreign policy after the September 11 attacks and for his strong role in the 2003 Iraq invasion.
He previously served as Secretary of Defense and Congressman for Wyoming. Cheney is survived by his wife Lynne and daughters Liz and Mary.
