BREAKING: Foreign prisoner on the run after error at HMP Wandsworth

Manhunt begins as the Met Police are searching for a 24 year old Algerian prisoner who was mistakenly released from HMP Wandsworth.

The Metropolitan leadership confirmed they were informed by the Prison Service shortly after 1pm, that the man had been wrongly freed.

Officers are conducting urgent enquiries to locate and return him to custody.

The incident has raised renewed concerns about security and administrative failures at the south London prison, which has faced scrutiny in recent years for a series of operational lapses and overcrowding issues.
