The European Union is reportedly considering new sanctions against Iran in response to the regime’s violent repression of nationwide protests and ongoing human rights abuses.
EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas has said she is ready to propose additional measures, including travel bans and asset freezes targeting officials responsible for brutality against demonstrators.
The comments were reported by The Brussels Times citing German press and DPA.
Brussels already has sweeping sanctions on Iran for rights violations, its nuclear programme and support for Russian military operations, but fresh punitive steps could be announced soon.
