German Chancellor Friedrich Merz says he believes Iran’s Islamic regime is living through its “final days and weeks” amid nationwide protests against the clerical leadership.
Merz made the remarks during a visit to India, arguing that a government that can only hold power through violence lacks legitimacy and is effectively at an end.
He urged Tehran to stop its deadly crackdown on demonstrators and called for a peaceful transition.
The comments echo growing international pressure as protests over economic hardship and political repression escalate across Iran.
