India Mobilises Territorial Army Amid Escalating Tensions with Pakistan

India has authorised the Chief of the Army Staff to activate 14 of the 32 Territorial Army (TA) infantry battalions, significantly boosting military readiness as tensions with Pakistan rise.

The mobilisation allows deployment across all major army commands, including Northern, Western, Eastern, Southern, Central, South Western, Andaman and Nicobar, and ARTRAC.

The move follows “Operation Sindoor”, which targeted terrorist camps in Pakistan after a deadly attack in Pahalgam. Pakistan responded with missile and drone strikes.

The TA, made up of trained volunteers, will now supplement the regular army’s operations.
