Hundreds of riot police have surrounded and attempted to force their way into the headquarters of Turkey’s main opposition party, the Republican People’s Party (CHP).
Witnesses reported scuffles at the entrance of the building in Ankara as police units tried to break through barricades.
CHP officials have condemned the move, calling it an assault on democracy and political freedoms.
The government has not yet issued an official statement on the incident.
The confrontation comes amid heightened political tensions following recent disputes between the ruling AKP and opposition leaders.
