Georgian Citizens Abroad to Be Banned From Voting, Parliament Confirms

Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili announced that citizens of Georgia living abroad will no longer be allowed to vote in elections outside the country.

Amendments to the electoral law enforcing this change are expected to be reviewed in the near future.

The decision affects over 1.5 million Georgians currently residing overseas.

Government officials have not yet detailed how the change will be implemented or whether it applies retroactively.
