AfD Leads German Polls for First Time Following 2025 Election

In a significant political development, Germany’s far-right Alternative for Germany (AfD) party has topped a national poll for the first time.

The latest Ipsos survey, conducted on April 9, 2025, shows AfD with 25% support, marking a 4-point increase since the February election.

The conservative CDU/CSU bloc has fallen to 24%, down 5 points. The Social Democrats (SPD) hold steady at 15%, while both The Left and The Greens register 11% support each.

This shift reflects growing public dissatisfaction with mainstream parties amid ongoing coalition negotiations.
