CENTCOM Commander Admiral Brad Cooper said now is still not the time for citizens in Iran to go out and protest, warning that the danger remains too high while military operations continue.
He said Iranian forces are launching missiles and drones from populated areas and urged civilians to stay inside for now.
Cooper added that, as President Trump has indicated, there will be a clear signal at some point for people to go into the streets.
The remarks suggest Washington believes public unrest inside Iran remains possible later, but not while the current phase of strikes is ongoing.
