Pakistan Vows Retaliation After Indian Airstrikes Kill 26 Civilians

Pakistan has authorised its military to respond to Indian airstrikes that killed at least 26 people, including a 3-year-old girl, in what Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif condemned as an “act of war” and a violation of sovereignty.

The strikes, part of India’s “Operation Sindoor,” targeted nine sites in Pakistan and Pakistan-administered Kashmir, which India claims were militant bases linked to the recent Pahalgam attack that left 26 Hindu tourists dead.

Pakistan disputes this, asserting that civilian infrastructure, including mosques, was hit.

In retaliation, Pakistan claims to have downed five Indian jets and has authorised “corresponding actions” at a time and place of its choosing.
