The U.S. economy added 228,000 jobs in March, significantly surpassing the anticipated 140,000.
President Trump celebrated the news, stating, “Great job numbers, far better than expected. It’s already working. Hang tough, we can’t lose!”
Despite this growth, the unemployment rate edged up to 4.2% from 4.1% in February.
Sectors such as healthcare, social assistance, and transportation saw notable gains, while federal employment declined by 4,000.
However, recent sweeping tariffs introduced by the administration have sparked concerns about potential economic repercussions, including supply chain disruptions and increased consumer costs.
