The United States has deployed an additional 100 troops to northern Nigeria as part of efforts to strengthen counterterrorism cooperation and regional stability.
The deployment is expected to support intelligence sharing, training, and operational coordination with Nigerian forces battling extremist groups such as Boko Haram and Islamic State affiliates active in the region.Â
Northern Nigeria has faced years of insurgency, kidnappings, and attacks on civilians.
The move signals continued US engagement in West Africa amid growing security concerns and rising influence from rival global powers across the continent.
