Italian authorities have arrested the president of the Association of Palestinians in Italy as part of Operation “Domino,” a major counterterrorism sweep targeting Hamas financing networks.
Police and financial investigators have arrested or issued warrants for nine suspects accused of running a cell that disguised itself as a humanitarian network while allegedly funnelling money to Hamas.
Prosecutors in Genoa say the group raised millions of euros, with €8 million in assets seized during the operation.
Funds were allegedly routed to organizations directly controlled by Hamas.
Two suspects remain abroad, and international arrest warrants have been issued. Officials say the investigation is ongoing.
